Parent, Students & Staff,
Welcome back to what promises to be another fantastic year at ATSS. Our school continues to grow and now has 17 homerooms (3 – 12’s, 4 – 11’s, 5 – 10’s & 5 – 9’s) with approximately 480 students on site. We have come a long way from 2 years ago when portions of the school were used under construction or used by the Department of Defense. Now, the DND has moved to another site and we have moved into an additional 4 rooms. We now have classes taking place in the majority of the rooms around the school. Larger by 100 students this year, people are doing a great job sharing space in the hallways and being attentive to others so that moving about isn’t a perilous experience.
This year we are proud to have our returning staff and three new staff members. Both Mrs. Wedel and Mrs. Myers are back from maternity leave. As well, Ms. McColl has returned full-time to continue building our Choir and Musical Theatre Programs. After a one year sojourn to Africa (Namibia, exactly) Ms. Dewar is back with many an interesting story of her adventures. New to ATSS we have Mr. Cutherbertson (Science/Math), Mr. Domke (P.E./Planning) and Mrs. Schneider (Spanish). It is certainly a pleasure to see new and veteran staff welcoming students as they arrive in the morning and jumping into instruction during the first weeks of school.
If you are new to ATSS we are very glad to have you with us. We hope you appreciate the special school climate we are working hard to create. Our intention is to use our small school environment to build a place where people feel welcome, respected and parents, teachers and students work together to create an unparalleled learning experience.
Please feel free to contact administration either through direct visit, phone or email to give us feedback on our programs. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
Warmest regards,
J. Parker Vice Principal
